This is WHY YOU SUCK: Esporta or LA Fitness in Secaucus or whoever you are.........

Gym: ESPORTA,LA Fitness
Location: Secaucus
SECAUCUS (Signature)
485 HARMON MEADOW BLVD
SECAUCUS, NJ 07094
(201) 751-9940

As a new member to the new wonderful Esporta/La Fitness facility in Secaucus NJ i have a few comments.

Who are you guys... Whats your Identity? are you La Fitness are you Esporta? Are you owned by La fitness or do you own LA Fitness? When were you opening your doors again? January, February 20th or "February 25th at 5am". Who and how did you notify of your plans? I didnt get an email or call, fax, letter, note..NOTHING! How about the welcome committee apologizing for the delay, and failure to communicate, or the change in name confusion and some sort of explanation. How about a tour to those who have already sold their soul to you? Why must you only focus on those poor folk that do not know any better.. I mean grant it, the place is beautiful! The machines are on point. The whole set up is perfect. But what about service? How about giving a tour to those new memebers as well. How about a welcome kit, with some schedules and maybe a map or anything... You guys strive yourself on being the top notch high end gym..but i get better service in the DMV. Get your stuff together ESPOR LA Fitness or whatever your name is.

ESPORTA you are on Notice!!

By the way no where on your site does it mention an association to Esporta or La Fitness http://esportausa.com/Pages/about.aspx

These people should honestly consider being open 24 hours. For the price they are charging, other competitors do a better job!

I wish they would clean the equipment. At other clubs you always see people walking around cleaning the equipment. I never see this at Esporta in Secaucus. And they don't have spray bottles so you can clean the equipment yourself. I see people doing aerobic exercise drenched in sweat who then go to workout on other equipment and leave sweat on all the machines they touch. It is disgusting and all you can do is wipe it with the towels they leave out. How about some cleaning spray.

they do have stuff to clean the equipment, paper towels and a little dispenser that looks kind of like a hand soap dispenser.

their staff is annoying though. and they don't have enough stairmasters or mats

They do have some stuff but not always in convenient locations..regardless i think that as a staff they should have people randomly cleaning.

On another note why do all the people that work there, with the exception of a few, and i do mean 1 or 2, seem like douche bags..? They just seem so arrogant and annoying...wearing them tights as workout shirts with tight ass dress pants. WTF.

Can someone tell me if there are there any classes catered to men? All i see is women and a few men in every class. The staff is nice to a degree but do not inform us of anything...its like you are totally on your own.

Instructors SUCK ! Tell your Dance instructors to stop looking in the mirror at themselves and let the class know their next moves???? Oh yeah, that is because they have no clue what their next moves are gonna be . Oh and when you have a spin class, try and make sure the instructors show up. Really need to train your staff

I think its an amazing club for the price , I never have to wait for anything and the only person i see doing everything is the guy in the suit! everyone else is always annoying me.

I wish they would lower the temperature a couple of degrees. It always seems hot to me, especially in the free weight area. It often feels hot, humid and the air is stagnant. This does not seem to be as much of a problem as you move towards the entrance of the club

The biggest problem is with the members themselves. Esporta is supposed to be a higher quality club than LA Fitness, but a large percentage of the current membership seems low class. I have seen them leave used towels on the floor and equipment, leave the weights on machines, move benches to other parts of the floor and then not return it, urinate on toilet seats, not flush the toilet, leave sweat all over the equipment without wiping it up, leave bottles all over the gym, spit in the water fountain, etc. Many of them dress slovenly. There are no rules or enforcement of rules so anything goes. If your looking for a gym with class, this is certainly not it. If your looking for a gym where you can urinate on the toilet seat without the risk losing your membership, Esporta is for you.

Wow the shadiness continues. just got an email that Esporta which was originally La Fitness, which wwas changed last minute to ESporta, is now LA Fitness Signature. WTF. Make up your mind people!!

I also i agree with the comment about cleansiness. The place is disgusting if you ask me. People are a mess, and need to clean up after themselves. However, i have been in the grungiest gyms and have seen a cleaning person throughout the day cleaning machines. I have yet to see that at this LUXURY Gym...

Once Retro Fitness opens in the COVE,this place will collapse.Hartz is fearing this now. That's why they'd rather leave the former Atlantis Fitness remain unrented. They can't have a cheap alternative nearby.

My issue is pricing. Some members paid $149 initiation and $59 per month which is very high. And now I am finding out that many members pay much less than that. How much are you paying?

Anonymous said...

Ive heard of people offered $40 a month... I pay 59 and i was a member even before they opened their doors..This is ridiculous!

Elite...Signature= Towels and attitudes... And now the dont even have towels.. supposed "towel shortage" This place is incredible.....GET IT TOGETHER!

Anonymous said...

so, has anything changed? I am planning to join the club but is it worth it?

They were asking for $1400 for 2 years...is this a good deal?

Anonymous said...

I went to the LA Fitness site on 9/23/10 and I saw that you can join online for 13.95 per week with no initiation fee. If you figure it out, this is lower than what everyone paid who joined either during the presale period or during the first few months. The prices appear to be dropping. I am going to quit and try another club. I can always rejoin later and I will have a better deal than what I currently have.

Thanks for the heads up.

This is a good blog. I've had the used car sale experience here too. The word "signature" was thrown around like free car washes...

I was told there were only 3 signature clubs in the US, is that true? I find that hard to believe.

When I joined I was told that this was an elite type of LA Fitness. It was originally called Esporta. What made it "elite"? Free towel service and soap and shampoo in the showers. Oh, and a higher price. I was told that the price would not go down so join now. Paid a high initiation fee of $150 and $59 per month was taxes for membership fee.

Well let me tell you how elite it is. They constantly run out of towels. They only have towels 50% of the time that I go. I have had to go back to my office after working out without taking a shower a number of times. Today again they did not have towels. Everyone was furious. And they ran out of shampoo in the showers and are not sure when they are going to get a new supply.

After talking with the manager, I asked for the name and number of his boss and he said he could not give that information. Do you believe that? What kind of a place is this? You can't give out a supervisors name and number.

Since joining I have since found out that there are many people paying lower prices than what I paid. They sold me my membership by telling me this was an elite club with towel service and shower soap and shampoo but now are not able to guarantee either. They told me that by joining early I would get the lowest rate. They lied about it all.

Stay away.

Lockers in the mens room are always broken. You spend a 10 minutes walking around trying all the lockers to find one that works. They have been saying for the past year that they are going to replace the lockers, but nothing is every done.

Anonymous said...

Not even just broken just heard that at times some accept any random code to open. So even if you get one that seems to be NOT broken, you ARe still not safe....I have heard stories already of stuff being stolen....I carry all my stuff now....its an inconvenience but I prefer that at this point.

Can someone explain something to me? My wife and I each pay $48.14 a month for the so-called Signature Club in Secaucus, NJ. We understand that the Signature “tag” allows the club member to have availability for all clubs in and out of NJ with no additional charge/fee, the keypad lock service on the lockers, and the towel service. However, because of an increase in locker room crime the club has recently replaced the keypad locks with the traditional style of bringing your own lock.

First questions, will members at this club see an adjustment in price? Second question, why were the members paying for the “Signature” keypad lock feature not provided with a combination lock and/or lock and key to make up the difference? We as members agreed to these features as per the contract we signed, therefore, this feature is no longer available so I have to believe the LA Fitness would do the right thing for its members in providing some sort of compensation. I am speaking on the behalf of all the members at the only Signature Club in Secaucus, New Jersey.

Another thought for you, explain how the only “Signature” Club in the state of New Jersey doesn’t have a racquetball court while nearly every other Non-Signature Club in the state of NJ has one. By the way, those members pay roughly $25.00 a month and can use every other club in the state of NJ except for the only “Signature” Club in Secaucus, NJ.

Excellent post man!
I strongly agree with your point that the Strong Relationships with your customer is the key,and Use the Language Your Customers Use. These two points are the main key points which we have to focus in B2B Marketing.

The LA Fitness "Signature" club in Secaucus, NJ is a dirty place. The locker room area is disgusting with dirty towels left on the floor and counters, the showers need scrubbing and disinfecting, the whirlpool is always a hazard with what looks like fecal matter on the foam. The shower curtains are ripped. The Sauna has roaches crawling in it and the staff is disrespectful and unprofessional.

They hoard towels and get very nasty if you request more than two. I complained and was told by Gonzalo (Manager) to bring my own towels or CANCEL membership if I don't like the policy. Can you imagine that? I"m paying for towel service but must bring my own towels? WTH is that about?

I have never seen a business who discards customers who express a complaint. All of the staff at the Secaucus club should be fired. They charge more than other clubs because of the towels yet they deny people the use of same. Regional Manager (Greg) got two messages from me but has not responded to date. Very poor management skills.

I further relate that they allow lowlife people to join who go into the whirlpool with their sweaty clothes from machine workouts and some men wear their underwear to swim. DISGUSTING!!! This club should be closed down.
